To the Doubters
by R.P. Infantino

You’ve got it all wrong about
Mary of Magdala.
You call her
Harlot.
Adulterer.
Sinner.
Only one rings true:
Sinner.
Who among us is not?
The other two?
Absent from the Good Book.

Show me.
Show me where it says
Harlot.
Adulterer.
Keep your opinions
And presumptions,
Your guesswork
And assumptions.
Prove with scripture
Your false accusations.

Here’s what we have right about
Mary of Magdala:
Like Jesus,
She was a Galilean.
For Jesus,
She provided from
Her own resources.
With Jesus,
She proclaimed
The Good News.
From Jesus,
She was first
To preach of His
Resurrection.

No opinions.
No presumptions.
No guesswork.
No assumptions.

Otherwise,
You’ve got it all wrong about
Mary of Magdala.
